From vineyard to bottle, we strive to minimize our environmental impact and contribute positively to the ecosystem that supports our craft. We’ve selected lighter-weight bottles and eliminated foil capsules from our packaging to significantly reduce waste and respond to the industry's call for more sustainable bottling solutions.

Local production and distribution are also integral aspects of sustainability, further reducing emissions from transportation and supporting our regional economy. These efforts ensure that our wine reaches you with a lighter footprint, aligning with our dedication to preserving the planet for future generations.

Land Acknowledgment

New York State is a region with a rich history of land stewardship, beginning with the indigenous peoples who have called this land home for over 10,000 years. We understand that the land is a being of its own, and gladly accept the responsibility that comes with growing and harvesting on it.

We also acknowledge that the Mohican people - known as the People of the Waters That are Never still - are a vital part of its history, as are other tribes and nations. As proud members of the Hudson community, we honor the fact that we stand on the ancestral homeland of many indigenous peoples who have come before.

Neverstill is a brand that contains multitudes, one of which is an ode to our indigenous namesake. As we grow, we embrace a journey of constant movement and evolution not unlike wine itself.

Our Story

The Neverstill Wines journey began in 1994 when Christy Counts had her wine revelation. She was initially introduced to the world of wine during a dinner with John Williams of Napa’s “Frog’s Leap” Winery. her fascination with wine’s complexity and beauty grew as she attended various wine events and explored wine regions over the years. Her passion for animals led her to a career in animal welfare; but the dream of owning a winery in California remained in the back of her mind.

In 2014, Christy and her husband Ben Morton relocated to Bedford, New York, and began exploring the Finger Lakes Wine Region. They were drawn to the region’s emerging potential for cool climate wine production, and the passionate, down-to-earth culture of the local wine industry. In 2020, Christy made the pivotal decision to change her career and formally educate herself in wine, achieving advanced certification through the Wine Spirit & Education Trust (WSET).

In 2022, Christy and Ben made the bold choice to pivot away from their California dream and instead embark on a wine journey in New York. As the concept of Neverstill Wines took shape, Christy found herself spending more time in Hudson, New York, attracted by its vibrant art, antiques, and culinary scene, she decided it was the perfect place for the tasting room.

In late 2022, Christy’s path crossed with Nova Cadamatre, the well-known Master of Wine who was rapidly growing her own wine brands. The two women hit it off quickly; and Nova joined the team as winemaker. During the first harvest in 2023, Bryce Lianna officially joined the team as Assistant Winemaker. Together, the three women are setting out to showcase what beautiful and world-class wines can be made in New York.

The Neverstill Wines are made from estate fruit sourced from the Hidden View Vineyard. This very special little vineyard is located on the west side of Seneca Lake. The vineyard is gently sloped toward the lake resulting in maximum benefits of the “Lake Effect” as well as beautiful views. The seven acre vineyard is planted with Riesling, Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc. It was planted in 2019, and continues to impress and inspire us with the quality of grapes it produces. In 2024, we planted 2 acres of Chardonnay and hope to release our first Estate Chardonnay in 2028. We are proud that Hidden View Vineyard has been certified under NY Sustainable Winegrowing.
